Harness tension to Elevate performance
Understanding Tension:
What do you mean by “Tension?”
When we say “Tension” we are speaking of a mindset or a state of pressure in which something, or someone, is being stretched. We believe Tension is necessary to get things done! We refer to tension in two types: Task Tension and Relationship Tension.
Isn’t Tension bad?
Tension requires pressure and is often viewed as a negative. While negative tension certainly exists, our goal is to help you achieve healthy levels of tension within your team to achieve higher performance.
What is “Relationship Tension?”
Relationship Tension is the level of pressure that exists between team members in the workplace. This is usually negative pressure between individuals, or groups, caused by ineffective communication, low trust, or limited understanding of teamwork. We generally seek to lower relationship tension.
What is “Task Tension?”
Task Tension is the level of tension on a team toward getting the job done. Task Tension is raised when team members understand and engage with job descriptions, responsibilities, deadlines, and goals. We generally seek to help raise task tension.
How do I harness Tension?
Answer: Leadership Development. It takes leaders to harness tension within an organization and build a culture that exhibits strong, task-oriented, working relationships.
